Young adult human couple Rita and Carl are living in substandard conditions due to lack of funding and housing. That Christmas they decide to commit one last heist together at their local credit union, hoping to find some large sums of unmarked cash. However, when they arrive, they are stopped by a mysterious old security guard named Nick, who claims to be one week from his retirement. Nick seems to know too much at this point about Rita and Carl's physical description. He offers them a chance to walk away and invest in a college degree instead.
